Focus is the management of a pig farm as entrepreneur/advisor, tackle constraints, seize opportunities and be future proof. Insight in productivity and production standards, how to monitor the farm
Focus of this programme is: advisor in pig business, manager of a pig farm or entrepreneur in pig husbandry.
The programme contains assignments on farm level, applied lectures and practical training, leading to applied farm analysis with translation to improved technical/economic results.
This requires insight in the management aspects within different pig farms. This implies that one should be aware of applicable production standards and using them in an appropriate way.
Knowledge on pig behaviour and the ability to monitor pigs is also necessary to draw conclusions on the performance of the farm.
The focus also implies that one should be a discussion partner for stakeholders like managers, veterinarians, feed suppliers and consumers. Peppered with a lot of practical training (understand, advice and optimize in different professional situations).
The programme is offered to a mixed group of international and Dutch students.
