Applied Poultry Management

Focus is the management of a poultry farm, tackle constraints and seize opportunities. Insight in factors effecting productivity, production standards, animal behaviour, monitoring and communication.
Focus of this programme is: advisor in poultry business, manager of a poultry farm or entrepreneur in poultry husbandry.
The programme contains assignments on farm level, applied lectures and practical training, leading to applied farm analysis with translation to improved technical/economic results.
This requires insight in the management aspects within different poultry farms. This implies that one should be aware of applicable production standards and using them in an appropriate way.
Knowledge on poultry behaviour and the ability to monitor poultry is also necessary to draw conclusions on the performance of the farm.
The focus also implies that one should be a discussion partner for stakeholders like managers, veterinarians, feed suppliers and consumers. Peppered with a lot of practical training (understand, advice and optimize in different professional situations).
The programme is offered to a mixed group of international and Dutch students.
