Offers courses on different areas of European law: competition law, criminal law, family law and financial regulation. You'll also be familiarised with the methods and content of legal argumentation.
The European Law School master's programme provides an in-depth study of European and comparative law (the latter, by offering traditional legal subjects from a comparative perspective). You are trained as a generalist equipped with essential legal and legal-linguistic skills to help you function in today's internationalised legal world. You quickly learn to anticipate and deal with transnational and European legal issues, and your knowledge of comparative law also equips you to communicate effectively with international colleagues and understand their legal perspectives. This is a one-year programme taught in English.

As English is the language of instruction in this study programme, it is essential that your English language skills are good enough for you to undertake intensive and challenging academic courses that are taught and examined in English.

All candidates must write a well-prepared and structured letter of motivation for this specific master’s programme. The letter should explain your motivation for choosing this specific Master’s programme. It should also include an overview of what you intend to learn and how this programme fits into your future professional plans. The letter must be dated and addressed to the Board of Admissions of the Faculty of Law.

You may also be eligible for admission if you have a non-Dutch university bachelor’s degree in Law, provided that the Board of Admissions considers your degree equivalent in terms of level with a Dutch university bachelor’s degree in Law. If this is not the case, you will be asked to take an entrance exam.
