The Sandberg Institute takes a broad perspective on the discipline of Interior Architecture. The student is educated in an area of expertise that includes the conceptualisation of the direct living space, the development of design concepts and practice from a strong social engagement combined with an independent approach. Based on the objective, core values and educational vision of the Gerrit Rietveld Academie in general, the Master’s programme trains interior architects who are capable of producing innovative and unorthodox designs through autonomous research and experimentation.
They are able to generate future-proof solutions for the complex spatial design tasks of today. They are able to create spaces with autonomous qualities. The graduates are independent interior architects. They can execute work for clients and formulate their own tasks. They can work independently or in (international) multidisciplinary teams. They are able to contribute extensively to interdisciplinary projects and have an open attitude towards their environment and involvement with others and society in general.
