Online course Industrial Effluent Treatment
Short or summer course

This online course provides the means to enable the reduction, reuse and recycle of water in the industrial sector through advanced concepts on cleaner production and pollution prevention and control.
A cleaner production perspective in terms of a waste and (waste-)water minimization approach that enables the potential reduction, reuse and recycle of water and other resources offers important advantages to meeting the stricter regulations, which is reflected in lower effluent treatment costs and the reduction of freshwater demand while preserving the environment. The aim of this online course on industrial effluents treatment is to provide the means to address these objectives through advanced concepts on cleaner production and principles on pollution prevention and control.
The course covers different aspects of industrial effluent treatment which range from getting insight into wastewater generation within a number of selected industries to the selection of the best available technology. Upon the completion of this course, the participant will understand the role and importance of industrial pretreatment in the urban water cycle; pollution, prevention and control principles applicable to industrial wastewater treatment; and identify and select the best available technology to treat the effluents from a particular industry.

The European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System (ECTS) is a student-centred system based on the student workload required to achieve the objectives of a programme of study. Its aim is to facilitate the recognition of study periods undertaken by mobile students through the transfer of credits. The ECTS is based on the principle that 60 credits are equivalent to the workload of full-time student during one academic year.
