Physics of Molecules and Materials
Master

This Master's specialisation aims to reveal the 'terra incognita' between quantum mechanics and the classical world and inspiring new technologies.
In this specialisation, you’ll be trained to take up the challenge in a field of physics that is still largely undiscovered: the interface between quantum and classical physics. This is pioneering work.
We focus on systems from two atoms to complete nanostructures, with time scales in the order of femtoseconds, picoseconds or nanoseconds. One of our challenges is to understand the origin of phenomena like superconductivity and magnetism. As theory and experiment reinforce each other, you'll learn about both 'research languages'. In this way, you'll be able to understand complex problems by dividing them into manageable parts.

The European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System (ECTS) is a student-centred system based on the student workload required to achieve the objectives of a programme of study. Its aim is to facilitate the recognition of study periods undertaken by mobile students through the transfer of credits. The ECTS is based on the principle that 60 credits are equivalent to the workload of full-time student during one academic year.
