Research Master Economics (CentER Graduate School)
Master

The program offers a broad basis for research in econometrics, macroeconomics and microeconomics. It's an in-depth study program which is focused on cutting-edge research in Economics.
Tilburg University's Research Master's program in Economics offers two years of graduate level coursework and research training in economics. It prepares you for PhD dissertation research. The program is integrated with a possible CentER's three-year PhD program to comprise the five-year Graduate Program in Economics.
The first year is fully devoted to rigorous training in microeconomics, macroeconomics, and econometrics. It equips you with a sound basis in economic and econometric theory and methods.
The second year is evenly split between specialized coursework and a first research paper, the Research Master thesis. This year allows you to explore the many research areas available at CentER, to fully develop your research interests, and to match up with one or more advisers that share your interests. The study load is 60 ECTS per year, a total of 120 over the two-year program. The curriculum consists of various teaching formats, where a balance between lectures, seminars, and writing and presenting papers is created.

The European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System (ECTS) is a student-centred system based on the student workload required to achieve the objectives of a programme of study. Its aim is to facilitate the recognition of study periods undertaken by mobile students through the transfer of credits. The ECTS is based on the principle that 60 credits are equivalent to the workload of full-time student during one academic year.
