Theology and Religious Studies: Theology
Bachelor

The Bachelor's programme in Theology and Religious Studies is a contemporary academic program that thoroughly studies Christianity, Islam, Judaism, Buddhism and Hinduism. The program offers you the opportunity to develop broadly and at the same time has three clear profiles: Christian theology, Islamic theology and religious studies. You can follow a tradition-specific program within the profiles.
The program consists of ten core courses that everyone follows together, in-depth profile courses and elective courses. The Bachelor is largely taught in English. This gives you more opportunities to develop in theology and religious studies that matter internationally. The Bachelor's modules will train you to become an engaged academic with an in-depth understanding of historical and contemporary positions and value of theology and the study of religion - in scholarship, religious communities and society. Dialogical learning in an interfaith setting is one of the programme’s core features.
In the third year you choose a minor with which you can specialize thematically or within a seminary or to prepare for a (research) master's.
The BA thus prepares for undergraduates who can critically and reflectively study the relevant questions of today’s world, while understanding the language of religion, be it in textual, ritual, practical, experiential, institutional or other forms.

The European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System (ECTS) is a student-centred system based on the student workload required to achieve the objectives of a programme of study. Its aim is to facilitate the recognition of study periods undertaken by mobile students through the transfer of credits. The ECTS is based on the principle that 60 credits are equivalent to the workload of full-time student during one academic year.
