Description

The Institute of Social Studies (ISS) in The Hague of Erasmus University is an international postgraduate school and one of the oldest and largest centres for the comparative study of social, political and economic development.

Students come from government, NGOs, universities and private companies, as well as some directly from their previous studies. The staff is drawn from around 30 countries from all over the world. The multicultural community at the ISS offers an excellent learning environment both inside and outside the classroom, in which students can gain from each other's diverse experience.

Development Studies (master's programme)

In this master's programme you will learn about the most recent theories and debates in your area of specialisation. You will learn to apply this knowledge to practical issues of development and social change. Majors on offer:

Requirements

Academic requirement

Bachelor's degree in one of the social sciences or equivalent, compromising at least 3 years studies at a recognised university or institute of higher education.

Applicants must have obtained at least class 2.2 (Lower Second), B or equivalent, but preferably class 2.1 (Upper Second), B+ or equivalent.

  • TOEFL iBT minimum score: 92
  • IELTS minimum score: 6.5

Working experience needed?

Professional experience relevant to the Major which the applicant wishes to study is normally expected and is a preference for admission.
