Description
Founded in 1614 the University of Groningen is one of the oldest universities in the Netherlands and has an international reputation as one of the leading research universities. It is a university with a modern, student oriented vision on education. The University of Groningen is a top-100 world university.
All programmes are accredited by the Dutch-Flemish Accreditation Organisation (NVAO) and all degrees are internationally recognised.
Faculty of Arts
The Faculty of Arts is the university’s most diverse faculty, with 15 bachelor’s and more than 40 master’s degree programmes in the field of Archaeology, (Art) History, International Relations, Communication, Journalism, Language and Literary Studies and Linguistics.
We also offer various regional studies, such as East Asian Studies, American Studies, European Integration, Middle Eastern Studies.
More than 30 of the master’s programmes we offer are completely taught in English. Over 5,000 students are currently participating in these programmes and the number of international students – degree students as well as exchange students - is growing every year.

Any master's or joint degree programme within the Faculty of Arts.
Scholarships available
2 per country, for students from:
- India
- Indonesia
Value of scholarship
€ 450 per month during the duration of the programme, for cost of living.
The scholarship does NOT cover the tuition fee.
Duration of scholarship
Entire duration of the studies: 12 - 24 months

- Motivation letter specifically written for OTS: this letter is different from the general motivation letter for the programme, as it focuses on the reasons why you think you needs to be selected for OTS.
Please note: all official documents should be in English. If the original is in another language, you need to send scanned copies of the documents in the original language + certified translations.
The motivation letter and CV should always be in English.
Incomplete files will not be considered for the scholarship, only candidates with an unconditional admission are eligible
