Arts and Culture: Theatre, Performance and Dramaturgy

The Master’s programme in Theatre, Performance and Dramaturgy brings together critical study and professional practice in contemporary theatre and performance. You explore how performances are shaped by social, political and cultural contexts, while developing research and field-based skills. With a shared academic foundation and two specialisations—International Dramaturgy and Theatre and Performance Studies—you can tailor your studies through electives, fieldwork, an internship and a thesis.

Theatre, Performance and Dramaturgy is a selective programme and research-led, combining core modules, electives and practice-based components. You will be introduced to key concepts and methodologies and engage with themes such as cultural translation, cultural policy and curation, archiving the performing arts, art and activism, and theatre and globalisation in seminars and projects. You will also have the opportunity to gain practical experience by doing an internship. The Dual Master's programme Theatre, Performance and Dramaturgy comprises 90 ECTS credits. There are two specialisations: Theatre and Performance Studies, and the specialisation in International Dramaturgy.

After successful completion of this programme, you will receive a legally accredited Master's degree in Arts and Culture and the title Master of Arts (MA).
