This Biomedical Sciences master program will help to deepen and broaden your understanding of human health and disease. You will acquire a skill set suitable for a wide range of career opportunities not only in (biomedical) research, but also in industry, policy making, communication or education. The master has a maximum capacity of 100 students per year. If more students are admissible, a qualitative selection procedure will decide on placement.

For all students the master Biomedical Sciences consists of a common part (60 EC, usually in the first year) and a specialization-specific part (60 EC in the second year).

In the common part you will gain essential biomedical knowledge and skills via compulsory and elective courses and a research internship. In addition, you will complete the unique module Career Orientation, designed to help you reflect on your strengths and weaknesses, as well as you career options and choices.

In your specialization year you will either further explore research or gain knowledge and training in communication, management or education.

The program is offered by the Leiden University Medical Center (LUMC), a modern institution which combines research, education and patient care with a strong scientific orientation The LUMC is located in the Leiden BioScience Park, whose companies also offer excellent opportunities for internships and/or a future job.
