Crisis and Security Management: Violence, Interventions, and Policing
Master

In the master track Violence, Interventions, and Policing, you study various forms of interpersonal violence, such as men’s violence against women, criminal-related violence, and violence between citizens and police during public disorder. You explore the causes, consequences, and social contexts of violence, and learn how interventions and prevention strategies work. You also examine the role of police and other security actors in maintaining internal security and the legitimate use of force. In four specialised courses, you develop academic knowledge and research skills: analysing theories, collecting and evaluating data, and critically assessing policies. This track equips you to design effective strategies to reduce violence and improve prevention programs. It prepares you to contribute to the work of municipalities, victim organisations, educational institutions, and public or private security organisations, while gaining insight into the societal, political, and legal impact of violence and interventions.
