Earth, Climate and Technology ( formerly Applied Earth Sciences)
Master
The world population is growing & so is our need for clean forms of energy & critical raw materials for solar panels, electronic devices, & windmills. We also need to understand how climate change & other processes impacts our environment, the earth & climate system, & thus our daily lives & those of future generations. Do you aspire to be an engineer that helps move society toward a sustainable future?
The programme has two tracks:
- Climate & Earth Observation: Monitor, analyse & predict the state of our planet, from sea level rise & storms, to heat waves, flooding, & land subsidence. Gain the skills to tackle challenges such as precise weather forecasting, renewable energy planning, mitigation of geohazards, biodiversity protection, & the monitoring of infrastructure on land and at sea
- Subsurface Energy & Resource Engineering: The subsurface has the potential to help with the energy transition & our need for critical raw materials for every day technologies. Learn how geological processes shape the subsurface & develop engineering skills to design safe, efficient, & sustainable solutions for geothermal energy, CO₂ and hydrogen storage, & responsible resource extraction
* We've changed our name to Earth, Climate & Technology. Since the official name change is a lengthy process, you'll currently find us listed on Studielink under ‘Applied Earth Sciences’.

The European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System (ECTS) is a student-centred system based on the student workload required to achieve the objectives of a programme of study. Its aim is to facilitate the recognition of study periods undertaken by mobile students through the transfer of credits. The ECTS is based on the principle that 60 credits are equivalent to the workload of full-time student during one academic year.
