Embedded Systems
Master

An embedded system is a combination of hardware systems (electrical engineering) and software systems (computer science) built into equipment that we don’t always recognise as being computerised, such as the systems that control a car’s anti-lock brakes, the automatic pilot of an aircraft or the sensors and filters used in processing plants. Embedded systems call for real-time operation, reliability, maintainability, and cost-effectiveness, which places heavy demands on software (user interfaces, data processing, machine control) and hardware (I/O, Asics, DSP, FPGA).
The English-taught Master’s in Embedded Systems focuses on the design of embedded systems, e.g. system validation, quantitative evaluation of embedded systems, electronics, maths, embedded computer architecture, and how to create a system on a chip. You will be challenged by topics ranging from control engineering, integrated circuit design, and computer architecture, to communication networks, real-time operating systems, and software engineering.
Our graduates have excellent career prospects. There’s a great need for engineers with skills that bridge the gap between hardware and software.

The European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System (ECTS) is a student-centred system based on the student workload required to achieve the objectives of a programme of study. Its aim is to facilitate the recognition of study periods undertaken by mobile students through the transfer of credits. The ECTS is based on the principle that 60 credits are equivalent to the workload of full-time student during one academic year.
