English Language and Culture
Bachelor
Due to increasing internationalisation, the English language is becoming ever more important. It is the language of academia, international politics and business. The English Language and Culture programme will enable you to become an expert in this field.
The programme offers you the opportunity to explore all aspects of the English language, from its development over the centuries to its contemporary forms. At the same time, you will immerse yourself in the culture and literature of Great Britain and other English-speaking regions. You will study classics from both high culture and popular culture, including Shakespeare, Stevenson, Downton Abbey, Little Britain, and much more. To become an expert in the English language, linguistics and culture, you will also gain insight into the culture, social relations, customs and peculiarities of people for whom (British) English is their native language.
The Bachelor's programme in English Language and Culture offers two specialisations: English Language and Culture and American Studies. If you are interested in American Studies, please explore that programme as well.
