This course explores the what, why and how of gender responsive governance and its relation to inclusive development. The practical integration of gender in all dimensions of (local) governance, as well as the role of women and men in equitable service delivery are examined. Special attention is paid to designing strategies for effective and meaningful involvement of marginalized groups (i.e. women, youth) in development initiatives. Throughout, the cross-cutting issues of applying intersectionality and how to involve men are underlined, especially in complex cultural and religious settings.
