Groundwater (GW) presents more than 95 % of Earth’s liquid freshwater. This makes it a much bigger source of water than surface water. In addition, aquifers provide natural protection from contamination, thus making GW:

  • cleaner | safer than surface water;
  • mainly pathogens-free; and
  • having constant | good quality.

Drinking water production from GW requires low capital and operational costs. It is also available close to demand points, which makes it potential main source of drinking water in many parts of the world. This course is about GW exploitation for drinking water production.
