Using data as creative material in the design process We live in a world shaped by data, from health to mobility to how we work and live. But in many projects data is still used only at the end to check if choices were right. This summer school explores a different stance: using data as a creative source that can spark ideas, expose meaning and help shape direction from the very start. This course builds on the work of Mathias Funk, Janne van Kollenburg, Sander Bogers, Peter Lovei and Renee Noortmann, who developed new ways to bring data and everyday life closer together in design. Instead of focusing purely on technical tools, we look at how small traces of daily routines, personal stories, and lived experiences can be gathered, read and transformed into insight. These insights help reveal what matters to people, what feels relevant in context, and where opportunities for change lie.
