Linguistics
Bachelor

Our capacity to use language makes us human beings unique as a species. If language fascinates you, you would like to know more about it, you are bound to enjoy a Bachelor's programme in Linguistics. Linguistics focuses on our uniquely human capacity to use language, something indispensable in our daily life. As a linguist you are interested in how language and speech is structured, how we acquire it, how it can be impaired, how it is represented in the brain, how it functions in society, how we deal with 2, 3, or 4 languages at the same time, and how it changes.
Linguistics is the right degree for you if you have an active interest in languages but also in language in general. It is also the right degree for you if you like to (learn how to) solve puzzles and problems that require a systematic approach, as the methodologies applied in linguistics are objective and replicable. Prospective students should possess a valid secondary school/high school diploma or Dutch university preparatory education (VWO) diploma, and need to demonstrate a sufficient command of English.

Its aim is to facilitate the recognition of study periods undertaken by mobile students through the transfer of credits. The ECTS is based on the principle that 60 credits are equivalent to the workload of full-time student during one academic year.
