This course focuses on strategies to strengthen the economic capacity of a local or regional community, making optimal use of the existing and potential characteristics of the area. You will be provided with strategies, tools and approaches to improve conditions for job creation and inclusive economic growth.

You will discuss questions such as: How to develop and implement a vision for the area together with government, citizens, businesses and CSOs? How to improve the interests of the local community vis-a-vis central government, multinationals and foreign investors, with a particular focus on human rights and business? How to support farmers and small businesses in creating job opportunities and improving food security? As part of the course we visit and interact with projects supporting small entrepreneurs and innovative agricultural programmes.
