Mathematics and High-Tech Innovation
Master

The Mathematics and High-Tech Innovation specialisation is for MSc students who are interested in interdisciplinary technologies and research related to or important for high technology industries, e.g. the semi-conductor industry or nano-fabrication. In addition to Mathematics, students learn basic analytical frameworks and skills that enable them 1) to design and develop novel semi-conducting nano-materials, 2) develop instrumentation for high-precision measurements and/or 3) develop software and hardware for integration and design. In the specialisation High-Tech Innovation students combine high quality research in their field of study with experience in a scientific business environment comprising development from idea, to prototype, to application. The specialisation High-Tech Innovation aims to introduce students to a broader array of exact sciences beyond Mathematics with an emphasis on innovative technologies. In addition, students will gain practical experience in applying their knowledge and skills through completing a research project in collaboration with an industrial partner. The specialisation emphasises interdisciplinarity across fields of study that connects with industry practices. Students will learn through real-life industrial case studies, lectures by industrial guest speakers, and teamwork in multidisciplinary problem solving.
