Philosophy: Philosophy of Knowledge
Master

The master's programme in Theoretical Philosophy (name changed from Philosophy of Knowledge as of 2026) at Leiden University offers students the opportunity to investigate fundamental questions concerning the nature of reality using the tools of analytic philosophy. The program in Theoretical Philosophy is taught by members of the Centre for Theoretical Philosophy at Leiden University. We are a friendly and collegial group of internationally acclaimed researchers and teachers, concentrating on metaphysics and the philosophy of science. Seminars are small, and students have many opportunities to participate in the research activities of the Centre such as our invited speaker series and internal lunch seminars.
This intellectually-rigorous programme is your opportunity to explore the fascinating ways in which these fields interact and influence each other. Learn alongside talented and highly-motivated students. Discussions and debates with classmates will help fine-tune your reasoning skills and ability to formulate logical and persuasive arguments. Classes are kept deliberately small to allow for a high level of interaction with your lecturers, many of whom are leading researchers in their fields.
