Post-initial Master in Global Challenges
Master
The post-initial Master in Global Challenges is a one-year dual-track postgraduate programme that combines academic learning with professional practice. Participants work four days a week in a paid position and dedicate one day a week to academic coursework, allowing them to directly apply new insights in their work.
The programme prepares professionals to tackle global challenges through cross-sector collaboration and a systems perspective. Participants learn to connect stakeholders from civil society, business, government, and knowledge institutions to contribute to sustainable and just solutions, particularly in low- and middle-income countries.
The blended curriculum (75% online, 25% in-person) combines problem-based learning, mentoring, and academic teaching. Four thematic modules are complemented by interactive online sessions and in-person training events in the Netherlands and Kenya.
Throughout the programme, participants hold junior or medior roles in areas such as policy, communication, research, or project management, while receiving guidance from an experienced workplace mentor and academic staff.

The European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System (ECTS) is a student-centred system based on the student workload required to achieve the objectives of a programme of study. Its aim is to facilitate the recognition of study periods undertaken by mobile students through the transfer of credits. The ECTS is based on the principle that 60 credits are equivalent to the workload of full-time student during one academic year.
