Quantum Matter
Master
From individual molecules to complex solids: in this specialisation, you'll explore matter at the deepest quantum level. You'll investigate fundamental phenomena that form the blueprint for tomorrow's technology. Whether you choose theory, experiment, or the combination of both: here you'll lay the foundation for the next generation of physics.
In the Quantum Matter specialisation, you will gain a bottom-up understanding of the properties and interactions of matter, from individual atoms and molecules to complex solids. In quantum matter, there is no unified theory to explain everything, so you will learn different approaches that enable to understand and predict a quantum system. You start with advanced courses on molecular physics and solid state physics, to prepare you for a wide variety of elective courses that will allow you to shape your focus, theoretical or experimental, molecular or condensed matter – or to remain broad.

The European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System (ECTS) is a student-centred system based on the student workload required to achieve the objectives of a programme of study. Its aim is to facilitate the recognition of study periods undertaken by mobile students through the transfer of credits. The ECTS is based on the principle that 60 credits are equivalent to the workload of full-time student during one academic year.
