River Basin Modelling
Short or summer course
In this course students learn different types of modelling approaches for supporting river basin planning and management. Diverse model-based analyses are introduced, varying from water resources allocation, modelling of river systems and catchment, including surface water – groundwater interactions, as well as modelling water quality aspects. Given the increasing availability of remotely sensed data, models for basin-wide water balance analyses are also introduced. These aspects are covered via lectures, exercises and workshops, mostly using modelling software available from DHI Denmark, such as MIKE HYDRO Basin, MIKE+, MIKE SHE and MIKE EVO Lab, supported with some basic Python and GIS analyses.

The European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System (ECTS) is a student-centred system based on the student workload required to achieve the objectives of a programme of study. Its aim is to facilitate the recognition of study periods undertaken by mobile students through the transfer of credits. The ECTS is based on the principle that 60 credits are equivalent to the workload of full-time student during one academic year.
