The Changing Landscape of Food Consumption: A Multidisciplinary Perspective
Short or summer course

Explore the animal, dairy, and protein transition through culture, science and policy in this interactive, hands-on course.
This course explores the cultural, economic, and social role of meat and dairy products, evolving from early civilizations to today. Students learn about how meat and dairy products represent wealth, status, and identity across different societies, and how these perceptions shape personal and collective identities. Using a multidisciplinary approach, we discuss the barriers and accelerators towards less animal protein consumption, the policies facilitating such a dietary shift, and the rise of animal protein alternatives. Through lectures, discussions, and a final paper, students critically assess the past, present, and future of meat and dairy in global contexts from a multidisciplinary perspective.

The European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System (ECTS) is a student-centred system based on the student workload required to achieve the objectives of a programme of study. Its aim is to facilitate the recognition of study periods undertaken by mobile students through the transfer of credits.
