Your tailor-made programme combines course modules from one of the one-year master's specializations with research traineeships, individual tutorials, and research. You conclude the programme by writing a Research Master's thesis and a research proposal, preparing you for further PhD studies or research funding applications.

In this Research Master's programme, you study how religion is embedded in historical and contemporary cultural contexts and examine its relationship with domains such as science, philosophy, and politics. You explore the impact of local and global socio-economic and political developments on religious beliefs and practices, and how religion, in turn, contributes to wider societal developments.

The core modules provide an in-depth understanding of current debates in the study of religion, while helping you develop key research skills. In addition to the core modules, you can choose from various specialization routes in order to develop your own research profile and skillset. Throughout the programme, you will be supervised by a lecturer whose research interests closely align with your own.
